Life Issues began in 1994 with the vision of its founders, the late District Elder Joe H. Kelly and the current CEO, Pastor Kathon Kelly.  Their vision was to form an organization, with various unique entities, that would help develop and enhance the educational, technical, and social skills, as well as meet the spiritual needs of its clients who reside within the inner and outer communities of the City of Memphis, Tennessee.

Life Issues’ endeavor is to work with other government agencies, ministries, and community-based organizations to develop and implement various other supportive services that enhance our clients, as well as our communities.

Our Mission

At Arête Christian School, we believe:

  • All children can learn.

  • All children benefit from developmentally appropriate materials, practice, and strategies.

  • All children deserve a quality education in which individual needs are met, exceeded and supported.

  • Social skills, such as life skills, deserve the same attention as academic ones.

  • School is not just about children: it encompasses family, parents, community, stakeholders, society, the environment, and the world.

  • Children must be encouraged to see the connection between new learning and prior knowledge.

  • Children are more than test scores.

  • Children learn best in a safe, caring environment, one that values diversity, collaboration, and risk-taking.

  • Children thrive when expectations are high and self-esteem higher.
